Shubhman Gill slams maiden Test 200 in 311 balls against England
A fire broke out at the Trauma Centre of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Thursday afternoon. The incident, which occurred after a transformer caught fire near the facility, prompted a swift response from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the blaze, which was quickly brought under control.
According to fire officials, the DFS received a call regarding the fire at approximately 3:34 PM. Initially, five fire tenders were dispatched to the location, though some reports indicate that up to eight tenders were ultimately deployed to douse the flames. The blaze was confined to the transformer, preventing it from spreading to other critical areas of the hospital, including nearby patient wings or the doctors' hostel which was just meters away.
The rapid deployment and efficient work of the fire department ensured that the situation was managed effectively and without disruption to hospital services. While the exact cause of the transformer malfunction is under investigation, officials confirmed that the fire has been completely extinguished. This incident, though contained, highlights the importance of robust fire safety protocols in critical healthcare infrastructure like AIIMS.
